Part 1: Understanding Cirrus Reader Studio
1. What Cirrus Reader Studio does
Fundamentally, Cirrus Reader Studio lets you:
- Create and manage the Cirrus Reader Instances, the customized e-readers that you will embed on your own website to let your users read publications without needing to download a file or install an app.
- Upload and manage the publications that you wish to make available to users. You can upload single publications, or bulk upload from your computer, or from Google Drive.
- Get detailed analytics on how users are reading your publications.
- Create and manage API keys for integration with external systems, such as e-commerce and CMS apps.
The work happens in four stages:
- Add your publications. Upload your EPUB, PDF and audio files to your catalogue. Add a cover, details such as the ISBN, and decide which publications readers can see.
- Configure and design your Cirrus Reader Instance. Create a Reader Instance and configure its layout, colours, fonts, logo and which features (such as bookmarks or read-aloud) users get.
- Put the Reader Embed on your website. Cirrus Reader Studio gives you a short piece of code, the embed code Reader Embed. Your web team pastes it into the page where the Reader Embed should appear. You also list the websites that are allowed to show it, so that nobody else can copy it onto theirs.
- Keep track of reading activity. Cirrus Reader Studio shows how many people read your publications, which of them are popular, how far each reader has got and how much data your readers use.
Everything you do in Cirrus Reader Studio happens inside a workspace. You can invite colleagues to work in it with you.
